Hi, I’m Brandon Manley, and I’m a PhD student in theoretical nuclear physics at Ohio State University. I currently work with Yuri Kovchegov. On this site, you can see my research works and cv.

My research is currently centered around the proton spin puzzle. I am mainly interested in how quarks and gluons make up the spin of the proton through the helicity parton distribution functions and the orbital angular momentum (OAM) distributions. My research will help us understand what we should see from the Electron Ion Collider . In terms of questions my research is centered around the following two big questions:

  • How does the OAM of quarks and gluons contribute to the spin of the proton?
  • How can we measure the OAM distributions at the EIC?

My past research interests include dark matter production at the Large Hadron Collider (with the MilliQan collaboration), and CMS detector design.
